1st TiCon Users’ Meeting in Shanghai

The first TiCon Users’ Meeting at MTM China was held in Shanghai in March. Alongside TiCon users like Brose Taicang Automotive Systems Co., Ltd., Henkel (China) Investment Co., Ltd., METTLER TOLEDO (Changzhou) Measurement Technology Co., Ltd., Vaillant (Wuxi) Heating Equipment Co., Ltd., many corporations interested in TiCon also seized the opportunity to learn more about the MTM software solutions that are available in the market place. The major focus centered on comparing TiCon3 and TiCon4. The user-friendly interface and the expanded functions in TiCon4 are designed to help corporations successfully cope with the challenges posed by digitalization. Many corporate customers in China has been using the new TiCon generation since it was introduced to the market place.

Fujian Benz Automotive: MTM on Board!

Mercedes-Benz Vans, Daimler AG, has been doing business in China through its Fujian Benz Automotive (FBAC) joint venture for more than ten years. Oskar Heer, Head of the Human Resources Joint Venture Support and Vocational Training China Department as well as being the Deputy Chairman of Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V., Knuth Jasker, the Executive Director of Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V., and Dr. Li Debiao, Associate Professor of Economics and Management at the College of Fuzhou University, have now agreed to work more closely with Fujian Benz Automotive management – in the field of training too.

“Giving the Experts Some Leeway”

Lower item costs, shorter lead times, high product quality, stable delivery capability – corporations in manufacturing industry in particular are hoping for a significant increase in productivity through digitalization and therefore greater competitiveness. However, successful digitalization projects do not appear out of the blue. Intense preparation work is necessary – plus an answer to the following question: Who has the lead – IT or production? Prof. Dr. Bernd Wilhelm, who was, among other things, the Head of Group Production Strategy and Head of Central Industrial Engineering at VW, has been dealing with digitalization projects throughout his professional career. He will give experts and managers in IE and IT some specific guidelines for action through his keynote address to the MTM and TiCon Users’ Conference in Heilbronn on 9 - 10 May 2019.

Chinese Corporations Are Increasingly Training Their Own Specialists

Ever since the launch of MTM-Practitioner training in China in 2007, the number of those participating has increased every year. More than 100 MTM-Practitioners were trained in 2018, which almost doubles the figure recorded in 2017.

1st International E-Mas Conference in Mexico

The Institute for Industrial Management (FIR) at RWTH Aachen University, Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V., the WBA Tooling Academy Aachen, the Lean Enterprise Institute and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey are organizing the first international E-Mas conference in Mexico on 21–22 March 2019. The partners are using E-Mas to develop an all-round and integrated further training concept for specialist workers, human resources developers and operational management personnel in the automobile industry in Mexico. Blended learning, a type of learning where the benefits of events attended by people and e-learning are combined, forms the basis for this. Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. is responsible for the technical implementation and operating the e-learning platform. The platform has been online since the beginning of January.

E-Learning: Demand Increases in Germany and Abroad

Participants have been able to take the first step to becoming an MTM Practitioner – the MTM-1 Base training course – in digital form too since the beginning of this year. The increasing demand for the new e-learning course from the MTM Academy shows that more and more corporations have recognized the benefits of online training facilities. The number of bookings per corporation has increased too. Firms are often registering more than ten participants for an MTM-1 Base e-learning course at the same time. After all, this pays dividends in many different ways – as the new video entitled “MTM by E-Learning” illustrates.

Continental: Supply Chain Managers Examine Productivity Potential

The international automobile supplier, Continental AG, which has its headquarters in Hanover, Germany, is planning to benefit from using MTM at its production site in Sibiu, Romania too. The corporation is initially focusing on logistics processes and particularly the issues of determining standard times, reducing throughput times and assessing human resources. The challenge involves having the materials available at the right place and at the right time – in a simple, speedy and flexible manner. The solution here is the internationally recognized MTM standard method.
