Guests at MTM Member Corporations

Chinese managers engaged in a study trip through Germany to determine the success factors associated with the “Made in Germany” label during May this year. More than 30 participants from corporations in the clothing sector, engineering and plant construction or the energy business, who are currently receiving further training at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, started their tour at the headquarters of Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. in Hamburg.

Prof. Dr. Peter Kuhlang, Head of the MTM Institute and the contact partner for MTM training in an international context, introduced the guests to one of the key topics for the industrial association and its member enterprises with his lecture entitled “Human Work in the Digital World – an MTM Perspective.” In the light of the process of demographic change, adjustments in value systems, intercultural teams and an increasing number of technological possibilities, Kuhlang said that the design of human-centered work was the prerequisite for maintaining performance and employment or people’s employability in the Working World 4.0. “The MTM process language, which is being increasingly used in China too, makes an important contribution here.”

The Chinese managers made further stops on their discovery tour into the success factors of Made in Germany at the following MTM member corporations: VW in Wolfsburg, Miele in Lehrte and Vaillant in Remscheid – as well as the demonstration factory at RWTH Aachen University. The participants were able to recognize that these corporations benefit from using MTM in many different ways and safeguard their competitiveness in this manner. The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Li Zhen, the Chief Representative of MTM in China.

Interest in this study group was so great, by the way, that it was necessary to form two groups. The second group is coming to Germany in the fall.
