MTM – Work design productive and safe

From Machine Learning to Blockchains – "digital change? digital chance!"

The 2018 German MTM Conference

Living and working in the digital overtaking lane: Will communications need people at all in the future? The psychic entertainer Bodo Lorenzen says “Yes.” After all, computers cannot sign contracts! The business magician will describe how empathy as a human quality can be effectively used in a digitalized world to safeguard competitive advantages in the future during the final lecture on the program – which will feature other top-class speakers too – at the German MTM Conference in Stuttgart on 25 October 2018.

The event this time will focus on the process of digital change and the associated challenges for employees and corporations. Using the heading “digital change? digital chance?”, managers, IT experts and academics will illustrate how they are tackling this task. Prof. Dr. Barbara Deml, Head of the Institute for Ergonomics and Business Organization at the KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), will give the opening lecture. Her subject is designing human/machine interaction in the future.

Blockchains as an unalterable, local database for storing and reliably managing data may still be in the early stages of their development, but they could fundamentally change the worlds of business and industry. Prof. Wolfgang Prinz, the Deputy Head of the Fraunhofer FIT Institute, will talk about the opportunities for using blockchain technology – for example, in digitalizing supply chain processes and the consequences for the corporate organization. Frank Schneider, Head of Conveyor Systems, Siemens AG, will deal with the goldrush mood in the automobile industry and a disruptive approach to products, planning and production methods.

And returning to human/machine interaction: It is essential to have some knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. AI expert Carsten Kraus, Managing Director of Omikron Data Quality GmbH, will show how AI is becoming part of everyday life and the working world and how corporations can benefit from this revolution. Other experts will also speak about the topics of augmented reality and smart data analytics as an integral element in production.
