German MTM Association provides new president for the IMD

The annual general meeting of the International MTM Directorate (IMD) elected a new president on 6 May 2017. Knuth Jasker (photo), the Executive Director of the German MTM Association, will be in charge of the international MTM community for the next three years. He follows in the footsteps of Dr. Hans Fischer, who had been head of the IMD since 2005. The following persons were elected as Vice Presidents: Chester Dobrowski, USA/Canada, and Guillaume Lachevre, France. Gabriele Caragnano (Italy) was confirmed as Executive Director and Prof. Dr. Peter Kuhlang, Head of the MTM Institute, as Technical Director.

Knuth Jasker views his most urgent task as restructuring the IMD from both organizational and content points of view during the next few years in order to press ahead with the global spread of the MTM process language even more quickly. His major focus will be on continuing to harmonize and standardize the teaching documents or achieve global standards for training Instructors and establish new types of qualifications. “We’ll be making use of a combination of e-learning and training courses that people need to attend in this respect,” Jasker emphasized. “In the light of the fact that there are still many empty spaces on the map as regards MTM, we’ll enable all those interested parties around the world to gain access to a certified MTM training course through the online facilities. The web-based training course on MTM principles (the main content from MTM-1) – a course that doesn’t therefore depend on any place or time – is being developed as a platform for the German MTM Association. The certificate, which the participants obtain after successfully completing the online course, will be accepted by all the national MTM associations organized within the IMD as the entrance requirement for further qualifications in MTM like MTM-UAS,” Jasker explained.

The German MTM Association and its development and research work will also make a considerable contribution towards the spread of MTM in the future. Knuth Jasker presented a number of new MTM products in Barcelona, which combine the technological opportunities of virtual reality, motion capturing and smart devices with the standard MTM process. The SME concept, which is designed to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises to start using MTM, also attracted a particularly high level of interest. Its central feature is an MTM cloud for calculating and assessing TARGET/ACTUAL figures in real time and making available MTM process data in the MTM TiCon software, regardless of which sector is involved.

The next IMD meeting will take place near Zurich on 17 – 19 November 2017. The host will be the Swiss national MTM association, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
