MTM – Work design productive and safe

Live Digital Logging of Transaction Data at the German MTM Conference

The Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. (German MTM Association) will be presenting new IT solutions for efficiently processing MTM data in networked production as well as models for automatically logging transaction data for MTM analyses in its TiCon software at the German MTM Conference in Stuttgart on 26 October 2017. “We assume that MTM analyses will no longer just be prepared by hand in the future and corporations will want to integrate this process into their smart factories too”, says Knuth Jasker, Executive Director, giving the reasons for this new development.

Motion capturing procedures represent one way of logging transaction data digitally. A networked full-length suit with a digital interface provides exact transaction data – and data on the ergonomic workload at a work station too. This data can be used in the TiCon MTM software to generate EAWS and MTM-UAS analyses. A different model relies on virtual reality, the presentation of reality in an interactive virtual environment that is generated by a computer in real time. The simulation of the method takes place here using VR headset. 3D simulation is a third technology – e.g. with the help of a digital human model.

The technical exhibition at the German MTM Conference on 26 October 2017 will show precisely how these new technologies work and how the data can be efficiently processed using MTM’s TiCon software.

New technologies, primarily aimed at providing work design and taking ergonomic issues into account, will be the focus of the Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. booth at the A+A in Düsseldorf. The major topics will be:

  • Logging transaction data digitally for ergonomic assessment purposes
  • Human Work Design (HWD®) – synchronizing time and ergonomic assessments when planning and designing human work
  • Productivity and ergonomics in harmony: ergonomic assessment using the EAWS process (Ergonomic Assessment Worksheet)
