MTM by E-Learning: Efficient, Innovative, Global

Shorter training times and therefore shorter periods of absence for employees, standard teaching materials, paperwork and qualifications around the globe, innovative teaching elements and consistently high quality – they are the most important requirements for member corporations and customers when it comes to MTM training for the future. Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. is facing up to this task and developing a blended learning concept that can be used around the globe – it combines e-learning (from anywhere in the world) and events that participants have to attend. The first course that is available in e-learning form is MTM-1.

The blended learning concept, which is being launched with MTM-1, is beneficial to MTM corporate members and customers for several reasons; here are the most important ones:

  • Shorter training times
MTM-1 in the form of e-learning in just five days, instead of ten, is all that is required as the entry qualification for a higher aggregated MTM process building block system. Fewer days of compulsory attendance mean that employees are available for longer periods at the corporation.
  • Multi-lingual approach
The e-learning course is available in different languages (initially just in German, English and Mexican Spanish). This guarantees that the MTM-1 process building block system is communicated in a consistent manner around the globe and this also helps to spread MTM in a standard manner – which is the task of Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. according to its statutes.
  • Internationalization
E-learning simplifies access to MTM training courses at foreign sites. E-learning also enables MTM training to take place in countries where there is no national MTM association.

The team associated with Prof. Dr. Peter Kuhlang, Head of the MTM Institute and the person who is also responsible for MTM training in an international context, have updated the individual learning modules in MTM-1 from a teaching point of view during the past few months and integrated them in the ILIAS e-learning platform. This tool will be intensively tested during the next few weeks. The technical preparation work for the platform will focus on the online registration for all the MTM training courses, e-payments and connecting the platform to the CRM system at Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V.

MTM training is being restructured
As MTM-1 in the form of e-learning will be the access qualification for training in a higher aggregated MTM process building block (e.g. MTM-UAS) in the future, the complete MTM training structure is being reorganized in line with this. “We’re particularly paying attention to the international coordination of this new, globally consistent training structure and its effects on the training and examination rules in Germany at the moment,” Kuhlang emphasizes. You will be able to read more about the changes in the MTM training structure, which is currently being discussed with the Executive Board and the Examinations Commission at Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. and the associated benefits for member corporations and customers, in the next edition of MTMaktuell.
