Practitioner Training: Customized Training Concepts for Corporations

About 35,000 certificates related to MTM training have been awarded around the globe during the last 15 years – and more than half of them by the Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. alone. The ongoing huge demand is largely explained by the high quality of the MTM training offered by the Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. – a quality level, which corporations and lobby groups are demanding, and an employee with a “blue card,” the globally recognized quality standard for MTM training and usage, can prove that he or she has gained. The MTM Academy offers individual training concepts in order to meet the specific demands of (MTM member) corporations for MTM training.

MTM rooted in many corporate agreements
The “blue card,” the evidence of having successfully participated in the different training courses to become an MTM Practitioner, is highly valued on both the employee and employer sides. That is to say, both human resources managers and works councils look carefully to see that there are employees available, who are not only able to handle the business of MTM analysis work, but also have an extensive knowledge and skills in using the MTM method in planning, designing and optimizing business processes and work systems. After all, MTM is rooted in many corporate agreements at enterprises with national or international operations. MTM Practitioners with their “blue card” also prove that they are capable of managing the necessary communications process between production managers, planners, workers, the works council and other departments within a corporation. For operational productivity management has no longer just been the responsibility of the IE department for some time now.

New forms of qualification in focus
The Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. has been the pacesetter when it comes to implementing training standards internationally and spreading MTM even further. In the eyes of Knuth Jasker, the Executive Director of the Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. and President of the International MTM Directorate (IMD), the harmonization and standardization of the teaching documents, global standards for Instructor training, establishing new forms of qualifications and guaranteeing the worldwide availability of the qualification opportunities in many different languages – e.g. via web-based e-learning – are the primary areas of focus.

From public training to “coaching on the job”
The pathway to the “blue card” takes participants from the MTM-1 training course (ten days) to a second MTM process building block system – MTM-SD, MTM-2, MTM-UAS, MTM-MEK, BMW SD or C-Values (five days) – and ideally several months of practical usage – and finally to the MTM Practitioner course (5 days – in German or English; other languages are available on request). The MTM Practitioner training course can be completed as:

  • a public training course,
  • in-house training or
  • “coaching on the job” (individual training within the corporation or in a small group with no more than three participants as part of a corporate design or improvement project).

The MTM Practitioner as a training course for specific corporations
The Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. now offers the opportunity of adapting the MTM Practitioner training course to a corporation’s individual needs by including specific issues at the enterprise. This takes place without any impairment of the set quality standards and defined general conditions. The MTM Academy particularly focuses on the qualification of corporations’ internal MTM Instructors, who then hold the training courses – particularly those for MTM Practitioners – at their companies. The Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. also supports corporations as they organize and hold MTM training courses at domestic and international business sites.
