MTM – Work design productive and safe

TiCon4 in Demand for Integration Solutions and Cooperation Schemes

This year’s users’ meeting for TiCon maintenance customers took place in Leipzig on 22 June. More than 70 participants accepted the invitation from the MTM Software Center to meet at the Globana Airport & Conference Centre. Herwig Weidle, Head of Software Development, opened the program with a review of current development themes at the MTM Software Center. They include TiCon as an add-on for the Siemens PLM software Teamcenter, generating MTM analyses from data sources, TiCon4 MSA (Multiple Station Work), coupling MTM and EAWS analyses and visualizing the results in line balancing (TiCon4 Ergo-Takt) as well as configuring the options in TiCon für SAP. The MTM Software Center is also working on a software solution to enable small and medium-sized enterprises to prepare sector-specific time calculations via a web interface, even if the operators have not had any previous MTM training.

The performance has been further improved

Thomas Schanz from the team of developers in Dresden presented the most important new features in TiCon3, TiCon4 and TiCon für SAP. There are a number of ongoing developments, particularly in TiCon4 – for example, the PD/PM (Process Designer/Process Monitor) and the Time Study (TS) modules. The TiCon TS module was the subject handled by Franz Coriand, Software Sales Manager, too “The MTM Software Center has also fulfilled the wish of many customers with this development so that they are able to plan, prepare and administer MTM analyses and time studies in one tool.” The new features in TiCon4 include master data in line balancing and language-neutral texts. Functions like “Updating” have also been revised. And TiCon4 has become faster – the performance has been further improved.

Cooperations with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen and Porsche
The practical experience with MTM software solutions was the focus of the contributions provided by outside speakers. Karl-Heinz Wollscheid from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG introduced View2Connect, a software tool developed within his company to centrally administer product data with a 3D reference. “The coupling of View2Connect, TiCon für SAP and SAP has enabled the corporation to efficiently draw up and maintain standard times,” Wollscheid explained. The lecture given by Jan Baumbach and Frank Schneider from Porsche Leipzig focused on the contribution that the company’s own interface solution known as Digital Planning System (DPS) and integrating TiCon3 in DPS makes to enable efficient production.

Cooperation product TiCon4 4D introduced
Dr. Uwe Knorr, Executive Director of imk ema, introduced TiCon4 4D, the new cooperation project between MTM and imk ema. The visual design of productive and ergonomically suitable work stations is the focus here. In his lecture entitled “StreaM – Wertstrom anders” (StreaM – Value Stream Differently), Horst Krämer from the EURO-COMPOSITES company – he is head of the MTM/IE regional group in Trier/Luxembourg – provided information about the StreaM (Standardized Cross-Enterprise Value Stream Management Method) research project at the University of Luxembourg and the MSA and Takt TiCon4 modules as corresponding software solutions.

Those attending had an opportunity of experiencing TiCon4 4D, View2Connect and naturally the TiCon products live during the accompanying specialist exhibition; they were also able to discuss matters with the employees from the MTM Software Center and each other. The next TiCon Users’ Meeting is planned to take place on 7 June 2018.
