MTM – Work design productive and safe

Wacker Neuson SE Is a New MTM Member Corporation

“A Standardized Approach Is Beneficial, Particularly with Long-Established Structures”

The MTM community is able to welcome a new corporate member to its ranks: Wacker Neuson SE, which has its headquarters in Munich. The Wacker Neuson Group, which has about 5,000 employees around the globe, is one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipment and compact machines. The Group has more than 50 subsidiaries and over 140 sales and service sites all over the world. The corporation has intensified its cooperation with MTM for several good reasons. The most important is the implementation of standards for work design.

The company launched pilot studies on using MTM at two business locations last year. The results in terms of improvements and the related proof of the usefulness of employing MTM led to the current project, where the method is to be introduced on an assembly line at the development and production site at Hörsching near Linz in Austria as a pilot project. Probably the most important reason for approaching MTM was the need to not only follow the latest standards in terms of work design and time management, but also generally establish uniform standards within the Group. “We have many long-established structures and different systems within the Group. A standardized approach is definitely beneficial”, says Andreas Mühlberger, Corporate Operations and Excellence, Wacker Neuson Group. In addition to just determining times, the systematic identification of those points where the existing assembly system can be improved is one of the major areas of focus.

The practical test in Linz is being managed by MTM specialists from within the company and supported by experts from Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH. Four employees have obtained the relevant training in MTM. Alongside this, the MTM’s TiCon für SAP software solution is being introduced. Andreas Mühlberger is expecting the pilot project to be concluded by the end of July this year and a decision will then be made on rolling out MTM to the complete Group.
